The effect of Procapil™, AnaGain™ and PhytoCellTec

The effect of Procapil™

The study

In a clinical in vivo study by the company “Sederma”, women and men with hair loss tested the effect of Procapil™ for 4 months.

The men applied a treatment containing the active ingredient to their hair twice a day, and the women applied it at least every other day, also twice a day.

Hair samples were taken from the participants, and they also self-assessed their hair condition. The same tests and surveys were conducted with a placebo group that used a hair care product without Procapil.

Comparative study with minoxidil

Minoxidil is one of the most proven treatments for hair loss and hair growth. For a direct comparison of Procapil™ with minoxidil, incubated hair follicles were treated with Procapil™ or minoxidil at a concentration of 2 ppm for two weeks and examined.

As a control group, incubated hair follicles without the addition of an active ingredient were used.

It turns out that Procapil™ is just as effective as minoxidil, even at the exact same concentration. At a higher concentration of 4 ppm for Procapil™, the effect is more pronounced.

The Swiss Mibelle Biochemistry Group investigated the effect of AnaGain™ on women and men with mild to moderate hair loss between the ages of 21 and 37. A 0.7 cm² area of ​​the crown was shaved short and photographed after two days. This allowed the hairs that grew in those two days to be assigned to the growth phase (anagen), while all remaining hairs were assigned to the resting phase (telogen), during which hair falls out.

For three months, participants applied AnaGain™ twice daily. Results were evaluated once based on the crown area and once based on self-assessment.

In another study, hair bulbs were plucked from men and women and analyzed using PCR. These were analyzed once without the application of an active ingredient and once after the participants had applied a gel containing AnaGain™ for two weeks.

Good to know:

The A/T ratio indicates the ratio between anagen hair (growth phase) and telogen hair (resting/shedding phase). If this ratio is above 5, hair loss is normal. In study participants with mild to moderate hair loss, this ratio was improved from 4 to 7.2 with AnaGain™.

The Mibelle Biochemistry Group from Switzerland conducted a clinical study in which isolated human hair follicles were enriched with 0.2% plant stem cells and examined for 20 days.

For comparison, isolated human hair follicles without the addition of the extract were observed for the same period. Only hair follicles in the growth phase were selected.

At that time, it was already known that isolated hair follicles expand during this phase until day 14. At that point, they are usually subject to cell death because they cannot be sustained for an extended period due to the lack of blood circulation.

Study results

As expected, hair follicles without the addition of the stem cell extract began to shrink after day 14. However, those hair follicles treated with the stem cells extended their lifespan until day 18.

Vitality maintenance was improved by 92%, meaning that hair follicles sustained by plant stem cells, even in isolation without nutrient supply, live almost twice as long as without. This leads to the following findings regarding the effect of plant stem cells on non-isolated hair follicles:
